Former footballer and TV analyst Siphiwe Mkhonza, known for his time with Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic, has tragically passed away at the age of 45. The news was confirmed by Mkhonza’s family, stating that he succumbed to a kidney infection in the early hours of Tuesday.

Starting his career with Celtic in 1999, Mkhonza also played for Ria Stars, Lamontville Golden Arrows, SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, AmaZulu, and Black Leopards after his time at Chiefs, showcasing his talent and dedication across various clubs.

Mkhonza transitioned into television post-retirement, becoming an analyst on SABC where he added his unique insights and perspectives to the football discourse for a number of years.

Tributes poured in for the beloved former defender, with colleagues such as Duane Dell’Oca reminiscing about Mkhonza’s vibrant personality and passion for life.
