Former President Donald Trump Ignores Mentioning Wife Melania on Mother’s Day, Focuses on Political Enemies’ Mothers, Wives, and Lovers
Former President Donald Trump stirred controversy on Mother’s Day by neglecting to mention his wife Melania in his social media posts, despite being the mother of his youngest child, Barron. Instead, Trump directed his Mother’s Day wishes towards the ‘Mothers, Wives, and Lovers’ of his political adversaries.
In a post on his platform Truth Social, Trump wrote, ‘Happy Mother’s Day to ALL, in particular the Mothers, Wives and Lovers of the Radical Left Fascists, Marxists, and Communists who are doing everything within their power to destroy and obliterate our once great Country.’ He urged for his opponents to become more ‘Kinder, Gentler, Softer and, most importantly, Smarter’.
Although Trump re-shared a message from his third wife, Melania, on Truth Social, he failed to directly mention her in his posts. Melania’s own post on Mother’s Day emphasized the role of mothers in society and the importance of self-care for mothers to support their families.
During a rally in New Jersey, Trump did acknowledge Melania in his Mother’s Day wishes, along with the passing of Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, earlier in the year. Vocal Trump critic Ron Filipkowski condemned Trump for ‘using Melania’s dead mother to promote himself’.
On the same day, former President Barack Obama honored his wife Michelle Obama for her mothering role, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis praised his wife, Casey DeSantis, for her contributions to their family.
