Frida Guzmán Music Career

Morelia, Mexico – Frida Sofía Guzmán Muñoz, the 20-year-old granddaughter of infamous drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, is stepping into the music scene with a desire to carve her own path.

This month, Frida released her first original single titled “Andas Contando,” a collaboration with Ceci Millán, now available on all digital platforms.

Despite the weight of her family name, Frida aims to be recognized for her talent, not her lineage. “I don’t have to be ashamed of anything,” she stated in a recent interview, expressing her passion for music and determination to succeed.

Frida’s journey into music began when she was just 11 years old. Growing up in Los Angeles after her father’s death in a violent incident linked to organized crime, she quickly developed a love for singing. At 15, Frida gained public attention by competing on the talent show ‘Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento’ in 2021, where she finished in third place.

Her latest single has generated mixed reactions online, but she remains focused on her career. “There’s calm after the storm, and I feel very proud,” she commented, showcasing her resilience.

Frida acknowledges the challenges of carrying her grandfather’s notorious legacy. “People judge you without knowing you,” she noted, but insists that she is dedicated to expressing herself authentically through her art.

Frida draws inspiration from icons like Jenni Rivera, whom she admires for her authenticity and impact on regional Mexican music. With her feet firmly planted in the industry, Frida Guzmán is ready to redefine her identity and focus on her musical aspirations.
