The 1975 Frontman Matty Healy Engaged to Model Gabbriette Bechtel, Confirms Mother Denise Welch

British actor Denise Welch, the mother of The 1975 frontman Matty Healy, has publicly acknowledged her son’s engagement to model Gabbriette Bechtel for the first time.

Fans started speculating about the engagement after Bechtel, who has been dating Healy since September 2023, uploaded an Instagram post on Tuesday night (11 June) showcasing a black diamond ring on her wedding finger.

Welch, known for her role as a panellist on ITV’s talk show ‘Loose Women‘, confirmed the engagement news during a recent episode, mentioning that she had been aware of the engagement for a few weeks.

Healy and Bechtel attended Charli XCX‘s show in New York, where they decided to make their engagement ‘Instagram official’. Bechtel captioned the post, ‘Marrying The 1975 is very Brat’, alluding to Charli XCX’s latest album ‘BRAT‘ and the connection between Charli and The 1975’s George Daniel, who is also engaged.

Denise Welch’s television appearance came shortly after the engagement was revealed. The singer and model subsequently reshared the Instagram post of the black diamond ring on Bechtel’s hand, seemingly confirming the proposal news.

Gabbriette Bechtel, also known as Gabbriette on social media, hails from Orange County, California, and has worked with renowned brands like Diesel, Bottega Veneta, and Marc Jacobs. Before her relationship with Healy, Bechtel split from her longtime boyfriend, British actor Joe Awlyn.

The couple’s engagement comes amidst Bechtel’s recent album release, ‘The Tortured Poets Department‘, which has garnered attention for its unique themes and musical style.
