Genesis Rodriguez Joins Star-Studded Cast of ‘Lioness’ Season 2

Genesis Rodriguez has recently joined the cast of the highly anticipated second season of the spy thriller series ‘Lioness‘ on Paramount+. Created by Taylor Sheridan, ‘Lioness’ follows the story of CIA operative Joe, played by Zoe Saldaña, who leads undercover operations in the war on terror using female operatives known as Lionesses.

Rodriguez will be portraying Captain Josephina Carrillo, a U.S. Army Apache pilot who is recruited into the Lioness program due to her family connections to the Mexican cartel. This addition to the cast comes after the series was renewed for a second season in May 2024, with the new season premiering on October 27, 2024.

The second season of ‘Lioness’ boasts a star-studded cast, including returning actors Zoe Saldaña, Laysla De Oliveira, Michael Kelly, and Nicole Kidman, with Morgan Freeman promoted to a series regular role. Other new cast members include Max Martini, Kirk Acevedo, and Patricia de Leon in recurring roles.

The series is loosely based on the real-life ‘Team Lioness‘ initiative during the Iraq War in 2003, where female soldiers were deployed to counter insurgents who used women to smuggle materials.
