George Clooney, Annette Bening Star in ‘In Love’ Adaptation
LOS ANGELES, California — George Clooney and Annette Bening will star in the upcoming film In Love, an adaptation of Amy Bloom’s bestselling memoir In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss. This exciting news comes as Clooney’s latest film, Jay Kelly, is gaining traction during awards season following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
The film will be directed by Oscar nominee Paul Weitz, who co-wrote the script with Bloom. In Love tells a profound story about love and loss, exploring the emotional journey of Bloom and her husband, who faced a heartbreaking decision concerning his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
“Amy’s memoir is a contemporary fable of love, wit and existential stakes,” Weitz said. “I can’t wait to do it justice with this amazing cast.”
Producers include Eddie Vaisman and Julia Lebedev from Sight Unseen, who initially developed the project, as well as Weitz and Andrew Miano from Depth of Field. Clooney and Grant Heslov will produce through Smokehouse Pictures, with Sébastien Raybaud producing for Anton.
Amy Bloom expressed her gratitude for the project, stating, “I have been so lucky to work with Eddie and Julie, so lucky to write with Paul and so grateful that this story of lasting love gets to be told on screen.”
In Love has received significant acclaim, being named TIME magazine’s No. 1 nonfiction book of 2022. The film reflects on the complexities of love and the enduring bond between partners facing unspeakable challenges.
Clooney is set to appear next in Jay Kelly, which will release in theaters on November 14 before streaming on Netflix starting December 5. Bening will soon be seen in the Warner Bros. film The Bride! and the limited series Lucky on Apple TV.
Both actors are well-established in Hollywood, with Clooney’s accolades including two Oscars and four SAG Awards, while Bening is a five-time Oscar nominee. The anticipation for In Love continues to grow as audiences await its release.
