Getaway Entertainment: New Production Company by Sophia Banks and Damiano Tucci
Director Sophia Banks has joined forces with producer Damiano Tucci to establish Getaway Entertainment, a new production and finance company operating in both film and television sectors. The announcement marks a significant step in the creative collaboration between the two established industry figures.
Among the initial projects slated by Getaway Entertainment is Cary Fukunaga’s crime thriller, “Blood On Snow,” which features a star-studded cast including Tom Hardy and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Other projects in development include Paul Schrader’s “Oh Canada,” starring Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, and Jacob Elordi, and Julian Schnabel’s historical thriller “In the Hand of Dante,” with an ensemble cast featuring Oscar Isaac, Gerard Butler, and Jason Momoa.
Banks made her feature directorial debut two years ago with a film starring Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, and Michelle Monaghan. She is also attached to direct an upcoming science fiction film in collaboration with Scott Free Productions, as well as a thriller titled “Dain Conspiracy.” Her previous works include the short film “Unregistered,” which was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Tucci, who brings extensive experience with over 40 producer credits, is known for his work on Mark Pellington’s 2017 dramedy “The Last Word” and Rob Reiner’s 2016 political drama “LBJ,” which starred Woody Harrelson.
In their mission statement, Banks and Tucci emphasized their dedication to “great storytelling” and outlined three core principles: creating films they themselves would want to watch, fostering collaboration with talented individuals, and empowering filmmakers. “[We are interested in] stories that captivate and entertain, drawing you into worlds worth exploring,” the statement expressed. “Collaboration is at the heart of our process – great stories come from great people. We support bold voices and fresh perspectives; we work with filmmakers to craft unforgettable stories.”
