Glam Rocker Jack Russell Passes Away at 63
Jack Russell, the iconic lead singer of the glam rock band Great White, has sadly passed away at the age of 63. His family announced that he died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after a long battle with Lewy body dementia and multiple system atrophy.
In a heartfelt social media post, the family expressed their love and respect for Jack. They highlighted his incredible sense of humor and lasting impact on the rock music scene. They also requested privacy during this difficult time, promising to share details about a public memorial in the future.
Jack had just announced his retirement from touring last month due to his health issues. In his farewell message, he thanked fans for all the memories and support they had given him throughout his career.
Born in Montebello, California, Jack co-founded Great White in 1982. The band soared to fame in the late ’80s with hits like “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” and “The Angel Song.” They released several albums, including the popular Once Bitten and Twice Shy.
The band members shared their condolences on Instagram, remembering Jack’s powerful voice and calling him a champion of rock music. They reflected on the many years they spent together on stage and in the studio.
One of the more tragic events linked to Jack’s career was the Station nightclub fire in 2003. While performing with Great White, a devastating fire broke out, killing 100 people, including guitarist Ty Longley. Jack later expressed his feelings about the incident and sought to apologize to victims.
Despite facing ups and downs in his career, including health challenges and legal issues, Jack Russell remained a beloved figure in rock music, cherished by fans and fellow musicians alike.
