Globo and Telemundo Studios Team Up for Scripted Content

Los Angeles, CA – May 15, 2025 – Brazilian media giant Globo has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Telemundo Studios, a part of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, to develop and co-produce premium scripted content. This partnership aims to strengthen their international collaborations and expand storytelling reach across Brazil and the U.S.
The agreement will allow Globo and Telemundo to collaboratively create original films and series that will debut as Globoplay Originals in Brazil and on Telemundo’s broadcasting and streaming platforms in the United States. Although specific titles and production formats are still under discussion, the focus remains on crafting high-value intellectual property intended for worldwide audiences.
Javier Pons, Chief Content Officer at Telemundo Studios, expressed that this collaboration represents a significant step towards connecting Brazil with the broader Hispanic community. “With our expertise in producing globally resonant content, this partnership will enhance our editorial collaboration and open avenues for premium scripted projects that engage diverse audiences,” he stated.
Manuel Belmar, Director of Digital Products at Globo, noted the co-production’s potential: “This agreement reinforces Globo’s commitment to develop captivating scripted IP that engages viewers worldwide.” He emphasized a shared confidence that with this partnership, they can produce compelling stories significant for audiences in both Brazil and the U.S.
This new deal signifies a continuation of the fruitful relationship between Telemundo and Globo, who have successfully co-produced Spanish-language adaptations of popular Globo telenovelas in the past, including “Vale Tudo” (known as “Vale Todo”), “O Clone” (“El Clon”), and “Fina Estampa” (“Marido en Alquiler”).
Globo reportedly generates over 11,000 hours of novelas annually and is recognized for its strong co-production models across several markets. As a cornerstone of the Latin American audiovisual industry, Globo has had its content dubbed into 70 languages, affirming its wide-reaching impact. Meanwhile, both companies look forward to shaping the landscape of international scripted content with this latest collaboration.
