Gospel Singer Solly Moholo Sets His Sights On Amapiano Genre

Veteran gospel singer Solly Moholo is poised to make a foray into one of South Africa‘s most popular young genres, Amapiano. Amapiano, which translates to ‘the pianos’ in Nguni, is a subgenre of house music that has gained immense popularity not only in South Africa but also in American and European countries. Despite its primary following among the youth, Solly Moholo has expressed his eagerness to tap into this genre, disclosing that he has a song set to be released soon.

In an interview on The Venting Podcast, Moholo stated that his main objective is to reach out to young people who may find themselves in the darkest places. ‘The Ama 2000 generation controls the world. They have sought refuge in the taverns. That’s why I’m bringing this vibe, so it can reach them wherever they may be. Drugs are prevalent everywhere, which is why my new song urges everyone to say no to drugs, crime, child trafficking, and violence,’ he explained.

Moholo also reflected on his own personal trials throughout the years, revealing that he had contemplated taking his own life on several occasions. However, he discovered the power of prayer, which became the key to overcoming his challenges. ‘I was burdened with numerous problems, and I was stressed… But I didn’t give up. I want people to pray, and I pray for the world, our government, and for peace without bloodshed,’ he emphasized.
