Gracie Abrams Buys $5.5 Million Penthouse in Greenwich Village

NEW YORK, March 17, 2025 — Pop star Gracie Abrams has purchased a luxurious penthouse at One Fifth Avenue for $5.5 million, marking a significant milestone in her rising career. The three-bedroom, three-bathroom unit spans approximately 2,000 square feet and is located across from Washington Square Park in the heart of Greenwich Village.
The sale price, which translates to about $3,000 per square foot, makes Abrams the latest notable resident in a building historically home to prominent figures such as Keith Richards and Tim Burton. The property, once a hotel for wealthy artists, boasts elegant Art Deco architecture and remarkable amenities.
Abrams’ penthouse, designated as Unit 18GK, features three terraces offering stunning vistas of Manhattan. The primary bedroom includes an ensuite bathroom, and a separate wing contains two additional bedrooms, one also with an ensuite bathroom. The kitchen provides access to a third, east-facing terrace, enhancing the apartment’s appeal.
The property last sold for $7 million in 2008 and has undergone changes throughout its history. Sotheby’s International Realty brokers Martine Capdevielle and Brigitte Goldenberg managed the listing, noting that the apartment may require renovations. However, it retains charming period details, embodying the building’s storied past.
“This apartment is a blank slate for luxurious living,” noted Capdevielle, “It offers incredible potential for customization.”
The penthouse’s striking layout includes a sunlit living room with large picture windows that provide an inviting atmosphere. Despite the need for improvements, the expansive living area and terraces present an opportunity for personal touches that align with Abrams’ eclectic style.
The singer-songwriter, who has quickly ascended to fame, opened for friend Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour, filling stadiums and captivating audiences with her music. Living in New York City, she can connect more deeply with her urban fanbase and friends in the area, including Swift and actor Paul Mescal.
Abrams’ move comes as no surprise; last summer, she expressed her desire to relocate to New York permanently in a profile with Glamour. The vibrant city provides a backdrop supportive of her artistic endeavors and personal growth.
This transaction underscores the ongoing trend of celebrities investing in prime New York City real estate, highlighting a robust market for luxury properties within the Greenwich Village area.
