Milwaukee, Wisconsin – A.J. Green has signed a four-year, $45 million contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks, securing his future with the team. The deal, fully guaranteed, was reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday.
Green, who went undrafted in 2022, has become a significant success story for the Bucks. The Cedar Falls, Iowa native signed a two-way contract before earning a standard deal, and now a lucrative extension that keeps him with the team until the 2029-30 season.
Last season, the 6-foot-4 guard scored an average of 7.4 points per game, contributing to the Bucks during the regular season and playoffs. He recorded a career-best 42.7% shooting percentage from three-point range. His ability to connect on 44.9% of catch-and-shoot threes has made him a valuable asset for Milwaukee.
Green’s consistent improvement over his three NBA seasons includes increased playing time, resembling a reliable role player capable of making key contributions. In the 2023-24 season, he averaged 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, alongside 22.7 minutes of playtime.
In the playoffs against the Indiana Pacers, Green stepped up significantly, scoring in double figures in three of the series’ five games. He shot 43.5% on three-pointers during the series, showcasing his talent when it mattered most.
Coach Doc Rivers noted Green’s growth as a passer, saying, “He’s really good with the ball coming off screens.” Rivers emphasized the importance of young players refining their timing and positioning to maximize their impact on the court.
As Green continues to develop as a player, he is expected to play a critical role for the Bucks alongside stars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and new addition Myles Turner in the upcoming season.
