Greg Gutfeld Reflects on Fatherhood at 60 After Daughter’s Birth

NEW YORK, NY — Greg Gutfeld, television host and comedian, recently reflected on how becoming a father at age 60 has reshaped his life. In a personal essay, Gutfeld, known for his late-night talk show, discussed his past life characterized by a self-described ‘selfish’ nature and how the arrival of his daughter, Mira, has prompted a significant shift in his priorities.
“So becoming a parent at my age is forcing me to learn things many of you learned in your 20s, 30s and 40s – that you have to think about someone else,” Gutfeld wrote. The new father expressed that adapting to parenthood is a challenge for him, stating, “For me, that’s tough.”
The birth of Mira in December marks a new chapter for Gutfeld and his wife, Elena Moussa, 42. Their family dynamics changed dramatically, including moving to a $10.5 million loft in SoHo in July 2024 to accommodate their growing family.
In his essay, Gutfeld praised his wife’s strength during pregnancy, likening it to a “nine-month tour of duty” filled with “exhaustion and hormones.” He emphasized the importance of recognizing mothers’ efforts, saying, “we should treat moms like conquering heroes.”
During a segment on his show, The Five, Gutfeld humorously admitted his shortcomings as a father. “I give emotional support, but you know, Elena is kind of, like, pretty hands-on,” he said, noting his clumsiness and lack of skills in parenting tasks.
Gutfeld first shared the news of Mira’s birth in a lighthearted post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing gratitude for the supportive messages he received. “Thank you all for the nice words! See you in a few!” he wrote on December 10.
Gutfeld and Moussa met during a business trip to Portugal in 2004 while they were both working in the magazine industry. He described his instant recognition of her as “my wife,” saying, “I just knew it.”
The couple married five months after their initial meeting and have largely kept their personal lives private, choosing to share limited details about their relationship publicly. One notable exception is their French bulldog, Gus, who has gained fame on Gutfeld’s social media platforms.
Gutfeld has been vocal in his support for Moussa’s family amid the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict, indicating a commitment to adjust his show’s schedule to provide coverage of the war. Moussa, originally from Russia, was instrumental in efforts to rescue her mother from Ukraine during the invasion in 2022, an endeavor Gutfeld publicly supported.
The television host and author first joined Fox News in 2011 and has since become a popular figure with a dedicated following. He began hosting Gutfeld! in 2020, a show that combines humor and commentary on current events, airing weeknights at 10 p.m. Gutfeld is also recognized as a New York Times Bestseller with several books to his name.
