Grey’s Anatomy Set for New Episodes with Major Cast Changes

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27, 2025 — ABC‘s hit medical drama Grey's Anatomy will return next week with new episodes, marking the end of a three-month hiatus. This mid-season premiere promises to deliver fresh storylines and notable cast changes in light of recent departures and new arrivals.
In late 2024, several beloved characters bid farewell to the series. However, joining the cast this season are new faces eager to make an impact in the iconic hospital setting. Notably, actress Sophia Bush has signed on to play Dr. Cass Beckman, a trauma surgeon, who debuted in the sixth episode of the season that aired on November 7.
Bush’s character is described as “amiable, fun and a little messy around the edges,” and she is married to Dr. David Beckman, a cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan. The casting for Dr. Beckman is yet to be announced. The show promises to delve into the dynamics of their relationship, adding depth to the narrative.
Furthermore, actress Floriana Lima, known for her role in A Million Little Things, has joined the cast as a recurring character named Nora. Nora is characterized as a childhood friend of Owen and Megan Hunt and appears at Grey Sloan after facing complications during a routine operation elsewhere. Described as a devoted mother and recent divorcee, Nora’s storyline will focus on her resilience as she navigates her new reality.
Jack McBrayer, famed for his role on 30 Rock, guest stars in an episode that aired on October 10, as a patient seeking a kidney transplant. His addition is part of the show’s strategy to infuse humor into the intense medical drama.
As the show regroups after several cast changes, returning fan-favorites have also been confirmed for the latest season. Morgan Kohan will reprise her role as Lillian Walsh, while Adrienne Walker returns as Shanti “Showstopper” Page, and Corey D. Williams is set to bring back his character, Bones.
With its storied history and evolving character arcs, Grey’s Anatomy remains a staple of ABC’s programming, continually adapting to ensure it reflects both the personal and professional challenges of its characters. Fans are eagerly awaiting the upcoming episodes, ready to see how these fresh faces will alter the landscape of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
