GTA V Enhanced Edition Launches with Improved Features and Save Migration Options

LOS ANGELES, CA — Rockstar Games has officially released the highly anticipated Enhanced edition of Grand Theft Auto V on March 4, 2025, available via Steam and the Rockstar Games Launcher. This edition boasts improved graphics and faster loading times, reminiscent of the upgrades seen in the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions.
As players dive into the Enhanced experience, they will notice a “mixed” aggregate review rating on Steam, where some users have expressed dissatisfaction due to the removal of certain chat functionalities. Nevertheless, the excitement around the release is palpable, particularly for those who have been eagerly waiting for enhancements to the beloved game.
Players who already own the original GTA V on PC can easily transfer their story mode progress to the new Enhanced version. This can be done through a dedicated option found in the Pause menu, providing a seamless transition for long-time fans.
The Enhanced edition includes a host of improvements: upgraded graphics with ray tracing capabilities, faster loading times, and additional content such as new vehicles and wildlife interactions. Moreover, it allows players to migrate their GTA Online character progression to the Enhanced version. Rockstar confirmed, however, that this transfer can only be executed once, preventing backwards compatibility.
“While you will be able to continue playing from where you left off in GTA V Legacy, progress cannot be copied back,” Rockstar stated in their announcement. This ensures players can still enjoy the Legacy version while also taking advantage of the new features in the Enhanced edition.
The migration process requires users to log into their Rockstar Games account linked to their preferred PC platform account. Players must upload their story mode save game from GTA V Legacy and then download it onto GTA V Enhanced. Detailed instructions clarify the process from uploading within the game’s Pause menu to confirming successful uploads.
In addition, as fans await the release of Grand Theft Auto VI later this year, Rockstar has assured that they will continue support for both the Legacy and Enhanced editions of GTA V. This reinforces the company’s commitment to its fan base, ensuring ongoing updates and new content.
The Enhanced edition is offered free to current owners of GTA V and is available for pre-loading on digital platforms, provided players already purchased the game prior to its release. The pre-load size is approximately 91.53 GB, requiring adequate space on an SSD.
For those looking to acquire the game, it is available on various digital storefronts, including Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Rockstar Games Launcher. Players are excited about the enhancements and new features as they dive deeper into the game’s expansive world.
