GTA 5 Online Enhanced Available for Pre-Load Ahead of Release

LOS ANGELES, CA — Rockstar Games has announced that the much-anticipated GTA 5 Online Enhanced update will be available for pre-load ahead of its official release on March 4, 2025. This update will bring exclusive features from the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions to PC players at no additional charge to those who already own the game.
The pre-load option is currently available to users who purchased Grand Theft Auto 5 through the Rockstar Games Launcher and Steam, with the update file size estimated to be about 91.53 GB. Players must ensure they have sufficient space on their SSD before commencing the download.
“We’re excited to bring the enhanced experience of GTA 5 to PC gamers. This version will offer improved graphics, faster loading times, and several gameplay enhancements based on the latest console iterations,” said a Rockstar Games spokesperson.
Rockstar recommended that users follow these steps to initiate the pre-load on their respective platforms. For those on the Rockstar Games Launcher, simply locate the “PRE-LOAD” button for the GTA 5 Enhanced update, which should transition to “DOWNLOADING” once the process begins. Players on Steam will receive similar prompts once the update is accessible.
However, a notable caveat is that pre-loading is not yet available for users of the Epic Games Launcher. The company has stated they will provide further updates on pre-load options for Epic users soon.
As the game nears release, players can also anticipate new gameplay features including ray-traced global illumination, enhanced shadows, and even new vehicles and wildlife additions. Rockstar plans to continue supporting the Legacy version of GTA 5 alongside the enhanced edition, ensuring ongoing updates and features for both iterations.
Notably, players keen on transferring their story mode progress from the Legacy version can do so using the in-game options once they have installed the Enhanced update. Rockstar has indicated that save migrations will only be allowed once, emphasizing the necessity for players to follow the precise upload and download procedure outlined by the studio.
With the excitement building, GTA 5 Online Enhanced is set to rekindle interest in the popular title and invite both new and returning players to experience Los Santos in a refreshed light. For anyone looking to explore the enhancements, pre-loading is an essential step to take before the official launch.
