Guardian Games Returns With New Challenges and Rewards for 2025

SEATTLE, Wash. — Destiny 2‘s beloved Guardian Games event has returned for 2025, starting March 11 and lasting until April 1. This year’s iteration coincides with the launch of Heresy Act 2 and introduces exciting new features, including a new mode that pits players against powerful bosses from the game’s past.
In the Guardian Games, players compete across three classes—Titan, Warlock, and Hunter—to earn points and medallions, ultimately aiming for their class to secure a permanent statue in the Tower for the year. This year’s major addition is the Rushdown mode, a PvE boss gauntlet challenge that tests players’ skills against memorable foes such as Savathun and Ghaul.
Players can start the event by interacting with Eva Levante in the Tower. After completing the initial quest, “Best In Class,” participants are required to equip a specific Guardian Games class item to earn medallions from various activities, including quests, bounties, and Crucible matches. The event comprises three tiers of challenges for earning medallions, categorized into Gold, Platinum, and Diamond. Players may only earn up to two Diamond medallions weekly, making them particularly sought after.
Rushdown’s premise requires players to defeat five bosses within a time limit, where the difficulty escalates with each victory. “Completing at least three bosses guarantees a weapon from the loot pool,” said a Bungie representative. Players should be prepared to make strategic choices during the activity due to limited ammo resources in each encounter.
This year’s loot not only includes the new Arc trace rifle, Keraunios, but also returning favorites like the Taraxippos scout rifle and The Title submachine gun. New armor sets featuring ornate gold accents and Roman-style designs will be available, along with various cosmetics in the Eververse store.
The Guardian Games offer an excellent opportunity for players to collect medals, earn exclusive weapons, and acquire vital upgrade materials. Players can track and redeem their medals at the Tower’s podium, boosting their class’s score. The stakes are high, as the class with the most medals by the event’s conclusion will be heralded in the Tower.
Through the event’s lifetime, players can complete a total of 16 event challenges to earn unique rewards, including the coveted Champ title. “Participating in events like Guardian Games is essential for building community and enhancing player engagement,” said Destiny 2 community manager.
With such an expansive roster of exciting features and rewards, Destiny 2’s Guardian Games for 2025 promise to deliver thrilling challenges and community spirit among Guardians.
