Haley Joel Osment Arrest Mammoth Lakes

MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. — Actor Haley Joel Osment was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance at Mammoth Mountain resort on April 8. The 37-year-old star, best known for his role in “The Sixth Sense,” was taken into custody shortly before 2 p.m. after police received a report of an allegedly intoxicated individual.

Upon arrival, officers found Osment with ski patrol personnel, who had been monitoring his behavior. Following a brief investigation, police booked him for the aforementioned charges and collected the suspected controlled substance for laboratory analysis.

Osment was released shortly after the arrest, and the decision on whether to pursue charges now rests with the Mono County District Attorney’s office.

According to sources cited by TMZ, Osment has faced significant challenges in recent months, including the loss of his home due to the Altadena wildfire. Reports indicate that he has struggled with his insurance provider over claims related to the destruction.

Just days ago, Osment reportedly found a replacement home, but issues with his insurer denying the claim have added stress during an already difficult time.

This incident is not Osment’s first brush with the law. He previously faced charges in 2006 following a drunken driving incident in Los Angeles that resulted in injuries after he crashed his vehicle into a brick pillar. At the age of 18, Osment pled no contest to charges of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana. He received a sentence of three years’ probation, 60 hours of rehabilitation, six months of Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and a $1,500 fine.

Osment’s publicist did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the recent arrest. The NYU graduate has continued to act, and is set to appear in the upcoming second season of the popular series “Poker Face.”nIf you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, contact the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
