Hallmark’s ‘My Argentine Heart’ Premieres with Argentinian Cast and Scenic Backdrop
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Hallmark Channel‘s newest original movie, “My Argentine Heart,” premiered on Saturday, January 18, at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. The film, starring Julie Gonzalo and Juan Pablo Di Pace, was shot on location in Argentina, showcasing the country’s breathtaking landscapes, including the iconic Iguazú Falls.
The movie tells the story of Abril, played by Gonzalo, who travels to Argentina to save her family ranch from being bought by her ex, Diego, portrayed by Di Pace. When external threats arise, the pair must work together, reigniting their love in the process. The film is part of Hallmark’s Winter Escape programming, offering viewers a romantic escape to South America.
Filming took place primarily in Buenos Aires and at Iguazú Falls, one of the world’s largest waterfall systems, located on the border of Argentina’s Misiones province and Brazil’s Paraná state. Di Pace, an Argentine native, shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, captioning them, “What a gift, working in my beautiful country, with an amazing crew.”
Gonzalo, an American-Argentine actress, expressed her enthusiasm for the project, calling it “truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had.” She highlighted the unique aspect of the production: “The most impressive part is that the entire cast is Argentinian. The entire crew is Argentinian, aside from a couple of Canadians and one American.”
Gonzalo, known for her roles in “Veronica Mars,” “Eli Stone,” and Hallmark films like “Falling for Vermont,” also shared her joy in speaking Spanish on set. “I was raised in an Argentinian house my entire life, I still speak Spanish to my parents,” she said. “We had the same foods we love, we had the same music we love.”
Di Pace, a multi-talented actor, director, and singer, has a diverse career spanning musicals, films like “Mamma Mia!,” and TV series such as “Fuller House” and “A.D. The Bible Continues.” He made his directorial debut in 2024 with the film “Duino.” Di Pace publicly came out as gay in 2019 during a TEDx talk in the Netherlands.
The film also features Valen Fione, who shared her gratitude on Instagram, writing, “Finished shooting of a movie I loved shooting, surrounded by a talented team and where I learned a lot.”
Hallmark’s synopsis emphasizes the romantic and scenic elements of the film, promising viewers a heartfelt story set against the backdrop of Argentina’s natural beauty. “My Argentine Heart” is now available for streaming on Hallmark’s platform.
