Harry Connick Jr. Shares Rare Family Moment at Australian Open
MELBOURNE, Australia — Harry Connick Jr. shared a rare family moment on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, posting a photo of himself with his wife Jill Goodacre and their three daughters at the Australian Open in Melbourne. The 57-year-old singer and actor captioned the Instagram post, “At the @australianopen with my girls! So excited to watch @janniksin tonite 😊.”
The couple, married since 1994, are parents to Georgia, 28, Kate, 27, and Charlotte, 22. The photo shows Connick Jr. in a casual navy shirt, flanked by his wife and daughters, all smiling for the camera. Jill, a former Victoria’s Secret model, leaned on her husband’s shoulder, while their daughters posed behind them.
Connick Jr., born in New Orleans, has strong ties to Australia, where all three of his daughters now live. In a July 2024 interview, he explained, “They’re in school and working and they’re having a good time down there.” He added that Georgia and Kate had visited Australia during his tours when they were younger, sparking their love for the country. Charlotte later joined them, and the family has since embraced life Down Under.
“First and foremost, the people are just incredibly kind and welcoming,” Connick Jr. said of Australia. “It’s a beautiful country. The food down there is among the best in the world. It’s clean air. Just the quality of life is great. The pace is relaxed.”
Connick Jr. has often spoken about his pride in his daughters, who have pursued careers in the arts. Georgia is a cinematographer and photographer, Kate is a model and fashion designer, and Charlotte is an actress and singer. Despite their famous lineage, Connick Jr. insists his daughters have earned their success on their own merits. “They’re brilliant, driven, really, really smart, creative women,” he said. “And our lives have become exponentially greater as a result of the perspective we’ve gained from them.”
The family’s move to Australia coincided with Connick Jr.’s role as a judge on Australia’s version of *American Idol*. Georgia, who now works as a photographer and cinematographer, told *WHO* magazine that her days in Australia consist of going to the beach, enjoying “incredible” food, and exploring nature. Kate, who launched her own clothing line in 2019, has also ventured into acting, starring in the Australian soap opera *Neighbours*. Charlotte, the youngest, recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design and is pursuing a career in acting and singing.
Despite their glamorous lives, Connick Jr. and Goodacre have worked to provide their daughters with a grounded upbringing. The family lived in a seven-bedroom mansion in New Canaan, Connecticut, before relocating to Australia. “We like the fact that it’s a pretty laid-back life here in Connecticut,” Connick Jr. said in a 2013 interview. “We can just be home. There’s no scene. We can just live our lives and not really deal with the industry.”
Georgia has spoken candidly about the challenges of growing up in the spotlight. “It was difficult, I’m not going to lie and say it wasn’t,” she told *WHO*. “But I think my parents have taught us so much—to treat people like they don’t know you at all, so you can give them the best version of yourself, and to treat everyone with respect.”
As the Connick family continues to thrive in Australia, Harry Connick Jr. remains focused on what matters most. “For me, it’s really like my family is first,” he once said. “I’ve found for my career, for my music or acting or writing, whatever I’m doing… if my family is in order, then everything kind of falls into place.”
