Heartstopper to Conclude with Feature Film, Production Starts This Summer

LOS ANGELES, CA — The beloved series “Heartstopper” will conclude with a feature film, Netflix announced on Tuesday. The film, based on the upcoming sixth volume of Alice Oseman’s graphic novels, will start production this summer.
Oseman, who is also an executive producer, expressed excitement about the film. “I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story,” Oseman said. “I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.”
Returning stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke will reprise their roles as Nick and Charlie. The film will explore the challenges they face in their relationship as Nick prepares to leave for university and Charlie seeks independence at school. The synopsis describes how the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them, leading to doubts and challenges.
The film will also feature Nick and Charlie’s friends as they navigate the complexities of love and friendship during adolescence. Oseman has confirmed that the narrative will be drawn from the yet unreleased Volume 6 of the graphic novels, which will likely be published before the film.
Alongside Oseman, Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Euros Lyn, and the leading actors will serve as executive producers. The film will be directed by Wash Westmoreland, known for the film “Still Alice.” Further casting announcements are expected to follow.
The continuation of Nick and Charlie’s story promises to delve into the sweet yet bittersweet moments of their young love, capturing the essence of growing up and the challenges young couples often face.
