LOS ANGELES, CA — The popular series Heartstopper will conclude with a feature film, Netflix announced on Tuesday. The upcoming movie will wrap up the beloved LGBTQ+ coming-of-age story, adapting Alice Oseman‘s sixth and final graphic novel.

Kit Connor and Joe Locke will reprise their roles as Nick and Charlie, the central characters in the series. Both actors will also serve as executive producers on the project. Filming is set to start this summer, with director Wash Westmoreland at the helm.

“I am completely overjoyed that we will get to tell the end of the Heartstopper story,” Oseman said in a statement. “I’m so grateful to everyone who has worked hard to make this possible and to the incredible fans of Heartstopper for your patience and passion. I cannot wait to bring this story to a magical conclusion.”

The film will continue from where Season 3 left off, where Nick and Charlie are deeply in love. However, as Nick plans to leave for university and Charlie seeks his own independence at school, the challenges of a long-distance relationship will test their bond.

Doubts and challenges loom over the couple, leading to their biggest test yet, while their friends navigate their own journeys through love and friendship.

In addition to Oseman, producers include Patrick Walters, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Euros Lyn, and the two lead actors. The final volume of the graphic novel, which is not yet released, is expected to provide key insights into the film’s storyline.

Oseman expressed mixed feelings about concluding the series, stating, “It’s very sad, but it’s time.”

Fans can look forward to more updates regarding the cast and release details, as the film’s anticipated arrival seems to be set for late 2026.
