Heidi Klum Exits ‘America’s Got Talent’ Ahead of Season 20

Los Angeles, CA – Fans of ‘America's Got Talent‘ will notice a significant absence when the show returns for Season 20 on Tuesday, May 27. Longtime judge Heidi Klum will not be part of the panel this season, leaving many to wonder why she has chosen to step away.
Klum first joined the show in Season 8 and became a fan favorite for her charm and warmth. However, after 11 of the past 12 seasons, she is leaving the competition. Although the exact reason for her departure was not officially announced by Klum or NBC, sources suggest that her exit may be linked to her upcoming return as the host of ‘Project Runway,’ which is set to debut a new season on Freeform starting July 31, 2025.
During her time on ‘America’s Got Talent,’ Klum showcased her personality and made a lasting impact on contestants. ‘Heidi has been an incredible part of AGT, bringing her signature charm, expertise, and warmth to the show,’ an AGT representative said, expressing gratitude for her contributions.
Replacing her in Season 20 is Melanie “Mel B” Brown, who has previously served as a judge on the show from Season 8 to Season 13. Mel B expressed excitement about her return, noting that the timing was perfect for her comeback.
Klum’s new role on ‘Project Runway’ follows a brief hiatus after co-hosting another fashion competition, ‘Making the Cut,’ which ended in 2022. While fans are disappointed about her departure from ‘AGT,’ many are hopeful for her future projects.
As Season 20 of ‘America’s Got Talent’ approaches, the remaining judges—Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara—will continue to search for the next big talent. Klum’s exit marks a significant change in the show’s history, and her presence will be missed.
