Calgary, Canada – Oscar-winning actress Helen Hunt expressed her desire to join the Star Wars universe during a panel at the Calgary Expo on April 28. Hunt, known for her roles in films such as As Good As It Gets, captivated the audience with her enthusiasm for the franchise.

While addressing fans, Hunt complimented a family wearing matching “Rebel Alliance” T-shirts in the front row. She hinted at her aspirations, stating, “Star Wars. Maybe some fierce president of a planet,” which drew thunderous applause from festival-goers.

In a light-hearted moment, she added, “I could be stormtrooper. I could be the one older-lady stormtrooper.” Her playful remarks showcased her love for the genre and the fans who flocked to the event.

During her 45-minute discussion with Victor Dandridge, Hunt shared insights into her journey as a performer, starting from the early days as a child actor in New York. She recounted how her father, director Gordon Hunt, introduced her to theater, including a memorable production of Godspell.

Having won an Oscar for her role as a struggling mother alongside Jack Nicholson in 1997’s As Good As It Gets, Hunt remains humble about her craft. She unveiled her feelings of self-doubt despite her impressive accolades.

“Every time I get a job, my first thought is I absolutely am not going to be able to do this. I don’t know how to do it,” she confessed. “Then I have to say, ‘Helen, you’ve been doing it for a long time and it will come.’ You chip away at it, chip away at it.”

Hunt also discussed her recent performance in Harold Pinter’s play Betrayal at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. She emphasized the importance of detailed preparation in her acting process, which has served her well throughout her career.
