Hema Malini Reflects on Support for PM Modi and Engagement with Mathura

Veteran actress-turned-politician Hema Malini recently shared insights into her initial interactions with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting her consistent support during his tenure as Gujarat‘s Chief Minister. In an interview with Lehren, Malini recounted her involvement in Modi’s political journey, stating, “I campaigned for him when he was Gujarat’s Chief Minister,” and noting that she participated actively during both his elections to the post.

Hema Malini expressed that Prime Minister Modi has been attentive to her concerns, especially regarding developmental issues in Mathura, which is part of her constituency. “If I have problems in Mathura, I explain to him, especially cleaning of the Yamuna River, and he immediately tells other departments to look into it,” she commented.

Addressing local issues remains a priority for Malini. At a recent event in Dubai, she illustrated her ongoing commitment by sharing a light-hearted yet sincere anecdote involving Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. The youth in Mathura expressed aspirations to achieve fame akin to Khan, believing Malini had a role in his rise to stardom. “The youth of my constituency keeps telling me that you have made Shah Rukh Khan such a big star, you can also make us a star,” she mentioned. In response, she invited Khan to Mathura to inspire local youths, emphasizing that success requires hard work and talent as demonstrated by Khan.
