Hilaria Baldwin Emotional Miscarriage Motherhood

NEW YORK, NY – Hilaria Baldwin, 41, shared her emotional journey through motherhood and the pain of a miscarriage in a recent episode of her family’s reality series, The Baldwins, which aired on March 16. Baldwin, who is married to actor Alec Baldwin, opened up about her experience of losing a baby late in her pregnancy, highlighting the emotional and physical toll it took on her.

In a candid moment captured on camera, Hilaria expressed, “So, I had a miscarriage. I’ll be OK.” Reflecting on the emotional weight of her situation, she mentioned her openness about the experience, stating, “[I] came out, had conversations that were hard to have for me. It’s a very hard thing to go through.”

Hilaria recalled feeling optimistic about her pregnancy after attempting in vitro fertilization (IVF), stating, “I tried IVF and everything seemed to be going really well. It was progressing in a really great way until it wasn’t.” Tragically, she revealed that she lost the baby between four and five months into her pregnancy, explaining that doctors were unable to determine the cause of the miscarriage.

“It was hard. I had an attachment, you know. I was excited,” Hilaria explained. She elaborated on the difficulty of later miscarriages, stating, “When you have a later miscarriage, loss, whatever word you want to use, your body has to essentially have the baby.” Furthermore, she described the entire experience as both “physically and emotionally hard.”

Despite the tragedy, Hilaria and Alec Baldwin, 66, have continued to grow their family. The couple, who married in June 2012, are parents to seven children, including Carmen, 11, Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, and newborns Eduardo and Lucia, born in 2020.

Hilaria expressed her desire to normalize discussions around miscarriage, stating, “I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience. I want to be a part of the effort to normalize miscarriage and remove the stigma from it.” She also acknowledged the secrecy often associated with early pregnancies, adding, “There is so much secrecy during the first trimester. This works for some, but I personally find it to be exhausting.”

The couple leaned on each other during their loss and welcomed two children shortly thereafter. Hilaria announced the birth of their son Eduardo in September 2020 and daughter Lucia, born via surrogate, five months later. In a heartfelt Instagram post in March 2021, Hilaria mourned their lost daughter, stating, “When I found out our baby had died, I told our children that their sister was going to come, just not at that time.”

While discussing their family dynamic and the challenges of raising seven children, Hilaria remarked, “I think we didn’t think it through very much, which I look back now and I’m thinking ‘What were we thinking?’ But at the same time, I’m so glad that we didn’t because it is so raw and it is so true,” emphasizing the authenticity of their experiences captured on the show.

The Baldwins aired its latest episode on TLC, where the family shares insights into their life and the challenges they face. Alec Baldwin confirmed, “She’ll be back,” hinting at a potential second season of the show, which gives viewers a glimpse into their busy household.
