Hindustan Zinc Reports 35% Increase in Q2 Net Profit
Hindustan Zinc Ltd has announced a significant 35% rise in its consolidated net profit for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending September 2025. The company reported a profit of ₹2,327 crore, up from ₹1,729 crore in the same period last year, despite a slight sequential decrease of nearly 1% from the previous quarter’s profit of ₹2,345 crore.
The company’s revenue from operations also saw an impressive 21% increase, reaching ₹8,004 crore compared to ₹6,619 crore in Q2 of the previous fiscal year. Sequentially, revenue was up 1.4% from ₹7,893 crore reported in the first quarter of FY25.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange, shares of Hindustan Zinc were trading 1.35% higher at ₹515 apiece as of 2:30 PM on October 18, reflecting positive investor sentiment following the announcement.
Further, the Vedanta-backed company took a strategic decision to invest ₹327 crore to acquire a minimum 26% equity stake in Serentica Renewable India Private Limited (SRIPL) or its affiliates. As part of this investment, Hindustan Zinc has committed to a power delivery agreement with SRIPL, which will provide the company with 530 megawatts of renewable power on a Round-The-Clock (RTC) basis under a group captive arrangement for 25 years.
In a stock exchange filing, Hindustan Zinc stated, “The Board of directors in its meeting held on 18th October, 2024, has approved to enter into Power delivery agreement with Serentica Renewables India Private Limited or its affiliates. The Company is expected to infuse equity of approximately ₹327 crore for a minimum of 26% in Serentica.”
