Virginia Tech Hokies Football Game

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech Hokies will look to build on their recent success as they face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. ET at Lane Stadium. Coming off a thrilling 23-21 win against NC State, the Hokies (2-3, 1-0 ACC) are eager to continue their momentum in this Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.

Interim head coach Philip Montgomery has led the Hokies to victory in their last two games, including their recent conference opener. Last week, Virginia Tech secured the win with a decisive 49-yard field goal by John Love in the final moments, overcoming a fourth-quarter deficit.

Terion Stewart played a pivotal role in the win, rushing for 174 yards on 15 carries. Quarterback Kyron Drones completed 20 of 34 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns. The Hokies’ defense also shined, recording five sacks during the match.

Wake Forest (2-2, 0-2 ACC), on the other hand, is seeking its first win in conference play after falling in a closely contested 30-29 overtime game against No. 16 Georgia Tech. The Demon Deacons allowed the Yellow Jackets to tie the game late in regulation, resulting in an overtime period due to a last-second field goal.

Demond Claiborne has been a standout player for Wake Forest, running for 119 yards and two touchdowns last week. However, the Demon Deacons have faced challenges, suffering from a poor run defense that ranks among the worst in the ACC.

The upcoming game marks Virginia Tech’s annual Homecoming celebration, with thousands of alumni returning to Blacksburg. Historically, the Hokies have excelled in Homecoming matchups against Wake Forest, winning all four occasions they met on Homecoming Saturday, including a 30-13 victory last year.

Fans can tune in to the game broadcast live on The CW, featuring Thom Brennaman, Will Blackmon, and Wes Bryant. The action will also be available on more than 40 radio stations across Virginia, including 105.3 FM in Blacksburg.

As kickoff approaches, Hokie Nation is preparing for an exciting game filled with tradition and competitive spirit. This week’s matchup promises to deliver thrilling college football action.
