Hollow Knight Silksong Nintendo Eshop Removal News

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Hollow Knight: Silksong, the eagerly awaited sequel to the critically acclaimed game Hollow Knight, has been removed from Nintendo‘s North American eShop as of February 18, 2025. This unexpected development has raised questions among fans and industry observers.

While the game remains available on other platforms, including the PlayStation Store, Xbox, Steam, and the European version of the Nintendo eShop, the reasons for its removal from the North American eShop are unclear. Some industry experts believe the game could be repositioned for a potential launch alongside a new Nintendo Switch model.

Matthew Griffin, the marketing and publishing lead at Team Cherry, assured concerned fans on social media that the game is still under development. “Yes, the game is real, progressing and will release,” Griffin said in a response to recent inquiries about the game’s status. Despite this reassurance, the developers have not provided further details regarding the removal or an updated release timeline.

Since its announcement six years ago, Hollow Knight: Silksong has garnered immense anticipation, winning the “Most Anticipated Game” award from Unity in both 2022 and 2023. Team Cherry has acknowledged the community’s ongoing support, stating, “It can’t be too much longer, surely!” However, solid updates about the game’s progress have been infrequent.

As speculation grows, many are looking toward Nintendo’s future presentations, including a dedicated event rumored to focus on the much-anticipated Switch 2. Industry insiders suggest that Hollow Knight: Silksong may make an appearance during this showcase.

The situation evolves as the gaming community remains eager for any news regarding both Hollow Knight: Silksong and Nintendo’s upcoming console announcements.
