The Hottest 200: A Countdown Of Tracks That Just Missed Out On The Hottest 100

Now we’ve met the songs you voted into the hottest 100 tracks of 2023, it’s time to go through the tracks that only just missed out – here are your Hottest 200.

It was a busy year for music and you all knew it; more than 2.3 million of you voted for your favorites with the hopes they might get a sniff in the big countdown. We explored a lot in the last 12 months, discovering new music, finding new artists on Unearthed and appreciating the old becoming new again with impressive samples and throwbacks.

Let’s take a dive into the tracks that may not have made the 100, but still got enough of your love to make it into a countdown of its own. There’s Like A Versions, big debuts, beloved faves, and previous winners in this list – the Hottest 200 has got it all!

Coming in at 101 and officially the one that narrowly missed out was The Beaches‘ boisterous debut, ‘Blame Brett’. Written about lead singer Jordan‘s ex-boyfriend (Brett Emmons of The Glorious Sons), ‘Blame Brett’ went viral on TikTok as a break-up anthem that holds the perfect blend of self-deprecating comedy, heartache, and angst. A warning to future partners and a calling card for all the self-appointed hot mess girlies out there.

Following the Canadian group comes Dominic Fike’s return to the countdown for the first time since 2020, where he placed #84 with ‘Chicken Tenders’.

Rounding out the top five of the 200 we have The Terrys’ second placement (they nudged in with ‘No Bad Days‘ at #93), another entry from The Rubens (#184 with ‘Pets And Drugs’) and RÜFÜS DU SOL‘s only showing with their Like A Version cover of Nirvana’s ‘Something In The Way‘.

Like A Version had a great showing in the Hottest 200 with seven covers appearing in the list. The Amity Affliction opened the gates at #191 with a littering of LAVs across the rest of the countdown. Covers from Jungle (#158), San Cisco (#136), Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers (#131), and Paramore (#130) are woven through the 200 while Taylor Swift got a look in through Pendulum’s run at ‘Anti-Hero‘ (#128).

The Hottest 200 was filled with multiple showings from a fair few artists. While there were no back-to-backs pulled off like Bring Me The Horizon and Dom Dolla, plenty of legends got a few entries in the second countdown.

Who scored two tracks in the 200? That feat goes to beabadoobee (#193 and #115), Beddy Rays (#157 and #146), Drake (#159 and #113), Ice Spice (#183 and #109), Jungle (#162 and #156), Old Mervs (#200 and #133), Olivia Rodrigo (#180 and #135), Paramore (#172 and #124), Post Malone (#148 and #120), Rum Jungle (#199 and #191), San Cisco (#164 and #137), Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers (#196 and #170), The Amity Affliction (#182 and #111), The Rubens (#184 and #104), and The Terrys (#181 and #103).

And the impressive triple entries go to: Dominic Fike (#188, #168 and #102), Middle Kids (#166, #150 and #123), Royel Otis (#153, #151 and #110), and Ruel (#198, #186 and #147).
