Iconic Canadian Football Player Andrew Harris Opens Up In New Documentary

A new documentary sheds light on the personal struggles of beloved Winnipeg Blue Bomber, Andrew Harris, as he navigates his final season with the Toronto Argonauts. Titled ‘Running Back Relentless,’ the film delves into Harris’ battles with childhood trauma, self-harm thoughts, trust issues, and abandonment struggles.

Speaking in an interview, Harris shared his reluctance to discuss his challenges in the past, emphasizing how athletes often bury their emotions. However, as he faced a tipping point in his personal life, he decided to open up and address these issues.

The documentary, currently streaming on Apple TV+ and Google Play, with an upcoming release on Amazon Prime Video, aims to support youth mental health through its partnership with Sam’s Foundation in Manitoba.

Harris expressed his hope that sharing his story will help others going through similar situations. He emphasized that while the documentary explores his football career, its main focus is on mental health awareness.

The premiere of the documentary coincides with a tribute event for Harris by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The team will honor his legendary career during a game against the B.C. Lions, featuring video tributes, autograph sessions, and fan interactions.

As the documentary provides a glimpse into Harris’ emotional journey, the football star looks forward to connecting with fans and relishing the game environment at the upcoming event.

CTV’s Rachel Lagacé contributed to the coverage of the documentary and Harris’ career.
