Igloo 90 Quart Rolling Cooler Recall

NEW YORK — Igloo Products is recalling over 1 million Flip & Tow rolling coolers sold across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico due to a handle hazard that has led to fingertip injuries, including amputations. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on February 13, 2025.

The recalled coolers, which have a 90-quart capacity, pose a risk as their tow handles can pinch users’ fingertips against the cooler, potentially causing serious injuries such as amputations, lacerations, and bone fractures. “The tow handle can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, posing fingertip amputation and crushing hazards,” the CPSC stated in their report.

Igloo reported 12 injury incidents connected to these coolers in the U.S., although no injuries have been reported in Canada or Mexico. Consumers are advised to stop using the coolers immediately and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle.

According to Igloo, the coolers were sold for prices ranging from $80 to $140 at major retailers including Target, Costco, and Dick's Sporting Goods, as well as online at Amazon and Igloocoolers.com from January 2019 until January 2025. The affected units were manufactured before January 2024, and consumers can identify them by looking for the manufacturer date imprinted in a circular pattern on the bottom of the product.

“With consumer safety as our top priority, we have voluntarily issued a recall on the 90QT Flip & Tow Rolling Cooler and have provided consumers with a proper course of action that includes a free replacement handle,” Igloo said in a statement. The company emphasized their commitment to safety through rigorous product testing.

For those impacted by the recall, Igloo offers assistance through their dedicated recall webpage at www.igloo90qtrecall.expertinquiry.com, where consumers can register for a repair kit. Assistance can also be obtained by contacting Igloo’s customer service at 888-943-5182 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or by emailing [email protected].

The recall affects approximately 1,060,000 coolers in the U.S., 47,000 in Canada, and 23,000 in Mexico. The coolers come in various colors and carry the word “IGLOO” on the side, with the model number found on labels attached to the bottom.
