iHeartMedia Appoints David Hillman as New Chief Legal Officer

Los Angeles, CA – iHeartMedia, the largest radio broadcast group in the U.S. and a leading podcast publisher, has appointed David Hillman as executive vice president, chief legal officer, and secretary. Hillman succeeds Jordan Fasbender, who left the company last month for a role at Comcast/NBCUniversal‘s SpinCo.
Hillman joins iHeartMedia from Venu Sports, where he served as chief legal officer and was part of the founding leadership team. Venu Sports is a joint venture focused on sports streaming, created by ESPN, Fox Corp., and Warner Bros. Discovery. Before his time at Venu, he held a position for over eight years at Paramount Global as executive vice president and general counsel for CBS Sports and CBS News & Stations.
In his early career, Hillman was the general counsel for both Simon & Schuster and Westwood One. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Dartmouth College and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
As chief legal officer at iHeartMedia, Hillman will manage all legal responsibilities for the company, including compliance, regulatory matters, corporate governance, and oversight of government affairs, business affairs, and privacy teams.
“David has very relevant experience across a range of media businesses, as well as specific familiarity with the audio industry,” said Bob Pittman, chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia. “We believe his wealth of experience will make him an ideal addition to the iHeart executive team as we continue to grow our momentum as the #1 audio company in America.”
Hillman expressed his enthusiasm about joining iHeartMedia, stating, “iHeart is the leader in the audio space in America, backed by a management team deeply committed to growth and innovation, and I’m excited to join and contribute to what’s next.”
Currently, iHeartMedia operates more than 860 live broadcast stations in over 160 markets across the U.S. The company also boasts that its iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group is the leading U.S. podcast publisher, achieving top standings in downloads, unique listeners, revenue, and earnings.
