Inaugural MPSF Beach Volleyball Championship Set to Begin This Week

LOS ANGELES — The inaugural Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Beach Volleyball Championship begins this week, running from April 23 to April 25, 2025, at Spiker Beach in Huntington Beach, Calif. The top-seeded UCLA Bruins (29-4) will seek to claim the championship title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
As the No. 1 seed, UCLA received a bye and will not play on the opening day. The Bruins will face the winner of the first dual between No. 4 California (25-7) and No. 5 Grand Canyon (22-9) at 11:00 a.m. PT on April 24. If UCLA wins that match, they will compete again at 3:30 p.m. PT in the semifinals.
The tournament features a double-elimination format with a total of 12 teams. Matches will be streamed live on BigTenPlus.com, and all duals will include live scoring provided by UCLA and USC on Statbroadcast.com. Championship matches on April 25 will be televised on the Big Ten Network, starting with the finals at noon PT.
The MPSF championship will include key matchups, as the Bruins have performed strongly this season, including a string of victories against ranked teams. Head Coach Jenny Johnson Jordan, in her second year, looks to lead her team to a championship after last season’s impressive run to second place at the NCAA Championships.
With a roster that boasts several returning starters, including standout pairs like junior Lexi Boyd and freshman Madison Perez, the Bruins have shown significant skill throughout the season. Boyd and Perez were recently named MPSF/Molten Beach Pair of the Week following their impressive performances in past tournaments.
