India secured a dominant win over Bangladesh in the first T20 International of their three-match series, held at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. The home team outclassed Bangladesh by seven wickets, chasing down a target of 128 with 49 balls to spare.

Asked to bat first, Bangladesh faced early setbacks with left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh (3/14) taking out openers Litton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon cheaply. The visiting team struggled with Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz being the top scorers at 27 and 35 runs respectively. Varun Chakravarthy‘s impressive spell (3/31) further dented Bangladesh’s line-up.

Bangladesh concluded their innings at 127, thanks to disciplined bowling from Varun Chakravarthy, Arshdeep, along with contributions from Mayank Yadav (1/21) and Washington Sundar (1/12). Hardik Pandya also contributed by claiming a wicket towards the end.

India’s chase was spearheaded by Hardik Pandya, who scored an unbeaten 39 off just 16 deliveries. Sanju Samson and captain Suryakumar Yadav managed 29 runs each, steering India to a swift victory. The team capitalized on Bangladesh’s modest total, maintaining control throughout the match.

The match also marked the international debut for Mayank Yadav, who played a significant role by claiming a maiden wicket and delivering a maiden over in his first spell, bringing delight to the home fans.

In the next match in the series, Bangladesh aims to rebound and challenge the formidable Indian side, while India will look to continue their winning momentum.
