Indiana Fever Set to Host Winless Connecticut Sun on Friday

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – The Indiana Fever will host the Connecticut Sun at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Fever enter the game with a record of 2-3 after losing two consecutive matches, including a narrow 90-88 loss against the New York Liberty on Saturday.
Indiana will be playing its second game without star guard Caitlin Clark, who is sidelined with a left quadriceps strain. Veteran Sydney Colson stepped into the starting lineup in her absence. DeWanna Bonner had a standout performance in the last game, scoring 21 points off the bench, contributing significantly to Indiana’s efforts.
Bonner, a former Sun player from 2020-2024, will be looking to make an impact against her old team. She has scored over 7,500 career points and is eager to lead the Fever to victory. This matchup is particularly unique as Fever head coach Stephanie White previously coached the Sun, achieving impressive results during her tenure.
The Sun are struggling this season, entering the game winless at 0-5. They have lost their early games by significant margins, leading to a challenging start. Connecticut’s roster has changed dramatically since last season, with many starters from 2024 leaving the team.
Tina Charles, who returned this season, leads the Sun in scoring with an average of 17 points per game. Marina Mabrey supports with additional scoring, averaging 14.2 points. The Sun will be without players Leila Lacan and Lindsay Allen due to various circumstances, which further complicates their pursuit of a first win.
As both teams seek their first win in a tough start to the season, Friday’s clash promises to be a competitive game filled with urgency.
