Indiana Football Win Oregon Game

INDIANAPOLIS, IN

The Indiana Hoosiers made history on Saturday, October 7, 2025, by securing their first road win against a top-five opponent, defeating the Oregon Ducks 30-20 in Eugene.

The Hoosiers dominated the game with a stellar performance from their defense, led by a formidable front seven. They allowed only 13 points and pressured Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, sacking him four times while holding the Ducks to just 3.7 yards per rush.

Coach Curt Cignetti praised his players, particularly the three off-ball linebackers, Aiden Fisher, Rolijah Hardy, and Isaiah Jones, who collectively recorded 34 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Cignetti remarked, “This is a new era for Indiana football. We are not just competing; we are winning.”

Indiana’s offense proved effective as well, with quarterback Fernando Mendoza leading a balanced attack. Despite a late interception, the team maintained control to finish the game strong. Mendoza completed key passes to secure the victory.

In contrast, the Oklahoma Sooners faced struggles in their much-anticipated matchup against Texas. Quarterback John Mateer returned from hand surgery but had a challenging game, throwing three interceptions and gaining minimal yardage.

Meanwhile, the Missouri Tigers faced off against Alabama, aiming to prove their worth. Although they were defeated, the play of leading rusher Ahmad Hardy, who garnered 52 rushing yards, demonstrated a need for improvement as they faced tougher SEC competition.

The landscape of college football continues to evolve, with parity becoming more evident this season. Indiana’s victory over Oregon highlights their growth as a legitimate national title contender, while traditional powerhouses grapple with their challenges in a competitive environment.

The Hoosiers’ next challenge will test their resolve as they aim to sustain this momentum and solidify their position in the national rankings.
