Injury Report: Arizona and Houston Prepare for Game Day

HOUSTON, Texas – The latest injury report for the Arizona Wildcats versus Houston Cougars matchup reveals significant player absences ahead of Saturday’s game.
As of Friday night, Arizona has six players ruled out, including defensive linemen Tre Smith and Jarra Anderson. Wide receiver Chris Hunter remains a game-time decision. Hunter was previously listed as probable, while Houston’s wide receiver Stephon Johnson is now also a game-time decision.
Defensive backs Gianni Edwards and offensive lineman Koa Peat, along with tight ends Keyan Burnett and Tyler Powell, are among those sidelined for Arizona. Smith and Anderson are no longer part of the program, while Powell and Smith both underwent season-ending surgeries.
“Other than Hunter, the key players for Arizona appear to be healthy,” said an Arizona spokesperson. “We are looking to leverage our depth at wide receiver.”
Houston is facing an even bigger challenge with 14 players listed as out. Johnson is a notable absence, ranking eighth nationally with an average of 21.75 yards per reception, and contributing 275 receiving yards and two touchdowns this season.
Running back Stacy Sneed will also miss the game, adding to Houston’s depth concerns. The Cougars will enter the game without a total of two defensive backs, two defensive linemen, one linebacker, three running backs, two tight ends, and two wide receivers, excluding Johnson.
The game will kick off at 9 AM Mountain Standard Time and will be broadcast live on FS1. Eric Collins will handle play-by-play duties, with Spencer Tillman providing analysis. Notably, FS1 will not include a sideline reporter for this game.
A final availability update will be released Saturday at 7 AM MST, ahead of kickoff. Both teams will be eager to maximize their rosters in light of their injuries as they look to secure a much-needed victory.
