The first round of the Iowa high school football playoffs concluded on Friday night, with several thrilling matches across different classes. Here are some of the key results and highlights:

In Class 2A, Anamosa secured a dramatic win over Waukon with a score of 46-40. Adam Brophy’s 39-yard touchdown reception with just 1:19 left in the game gave Anamosa its first lead, and Nate Fischer‘s interception at the buzzer sealed the victory. Anamosa’s Vince Diers had a standout performance, completing 24 of 33 passes for 300 yards, including the game-winning touchdown to Brophy.

In the 8-Player division, Iowa Valley triumphed over Southeast Warren with a score of 64-48. Nolan Kriegel was instrumental in the win, rushing for six touchdowns and adding a 39-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Haack. Despite being down 40-30 at the start of the second half, Iowa Valley managed to hold Southeast Warren in check, allowing only a late score and forcing three turnovers.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck also had a notable performance in the 8-Player class, defeating Lansing Kee 62-30. Drew Eilers of Gladbrook-Reinbeck rushed for 165 yards and five touchdowns, and also passed for 176 yards and three more touchdowns. Dalton Mudderman of Lansing Kee had 202 passing yards and two touchdowns, along with 154 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Other notable scores include Carroll Kuemper’s 48-7 win over Chariton in Class 2A, and Dike-New Hartford’s 54-0 victory over Ogden in Class 1A. In Class A, Bellevue defeated Danville 43-7, and Mount Ayr edged out Earlham 58-50.
