Isabella Strahan Shares Cancer Journey in New ABC Special
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Isabella Strahan, the 20-year-old daughter of TV personality Michael Strahan, will share her battle with brain cancer in a new ABC special, ‘Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer,’ airing Feb. 5 at 10 p.m. EST. The documentary offers an intimate look at her diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, featuring emotional moments with her family and fellow cancer patients.
In October 2023, on her 19th birthday, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove a golf-ball-sized brain tumor. Diagnosed with medulloblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, she faced multiple rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, and surgeries. Now cancer-free, Isabella reflects on her journey in the special, emphasizing the importance of resilience and family support.
“You don’t really think the worst until you get told the worst,” Isabella says in the trailer, breaking down in tears. Her father, Michael Strahan, co-anchor of ‘Good Morning America,’ recalls the shock of her diagnosis. “The first thing that went through my mind was, ‘This must be a mistake.’ It didn’t seem real,” he says.
Isabella’s mother, Jean Muggli, describes the experience as every parent’s worst nightmare. “As a parent, you’re just scared,” Michael adds. “She told me at one point, ‘I’ll do whatever I gotta do because I don’t want to die.’ And I was like, wow.”
Her twin sister, Sophia Strahan, shares how the diagnosis impacted their close bond. “They take care of each other,” Michael notes. “That love and that support really helped her pull through.” Sophia also praises Isabella’s decision to document her journey publicly, saying, “It really impressed me how she was able to share her story in a way that is really powerful.”
The trailer highlights a poignant moment between Isabella and Seana Isaac, a fellow cancer patient, who tearfully expresses how Isabella’s story has inspired her. “It’s been very hard, but I know I’ll get through it,” Isabella says in the preview. “It’s really great to just feel free.”
The special will stream the following day on Hulu and Disney+.
