HOUSTON, Texas — Actress and producer Issa Rae captivated a sold-out crowd at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, January 18, during “An Evening with Issa Rae.” The event, part of a test run for a potential live show, featured candid conversations, audience interaction, and a celebration of Rae’s multifaceted career.

Rae, best known for creating and starring in the HBO series “Insecure,” was in Houston to promote her latest projects, including the buddy comedy “One of Them Days,” which she produced and stars in alongside Keke Palmer and SZA. Backstage, Rae revealed that the Houston event was a trial for a live show she’s developing. “This is still kind of an experimental show, like figuring out what it is,” she told reporters. “I’m just grateful that people want to come and see what it is, and it’s something that we’re shaping. We’re doing another one in D.C.”
