Ivanka Trump Prioritizes Family Over Politics, Shares Insights on Parenting
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Ivanka Trump, former senior advisor to President Donald Trump, has revealed that her decision to step away from politics was driven by her commitment to family. In a January 2025 episode of the *Skinny Confidential Him & Her* podcast, Trump emphasized the importance of being present for her three children as they navigate their teenage years.
“It feels like it’s very easy to make a decision when it aligns around your core values, and my highest most core value is family,” Trump said. “When you have kids that are teenagers or about to be teenagers, your physical presence matters so much—it’s crazy.”
Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, married in 2009 and are parents to daughter Arabella, born in 2011, and sons Joseph, born in 2013, and Theodore, born in 2016. The couple has been vocal about their dedication to raising their children away from the political spotlight.
Arabella, the eldest, celebrated her bat mitzvah in June 2023, a milestone that Trump commemorated with a heartfelt Instagram post. She praised Arabella’s volunteer work, including her efforts with the Jewish Community Service Kosher Food Bank and the Friendship Circle. “Arabella’s giving heart and commitment to making a positive impact embodies the spirit of this special milestone,” Trump wrote.
The teenager is also a fan of Taylor Swift, with Trump reportedly taking her to a concert at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in October 2024. For Arabella’s 13th birthday in July 2024, Trump shared an Instagram carousel featuring a cake decorated with lyrics from Swift’s hit song “Blank Space.”
Joseph, the couple’s middle child, turned 11 in October 2024. Trump celebrated his birthday with a video montage on Instagram, highlighting his diverse interests. “Whether you’re building (or taking apart!) something with a motor, exploring computers, dirt biking, skateboarding, or out fishing with your best buddy Simba, you put your whole heart into everything you love,” she wrote.
Theodore, the youngest, turned 8 in March 2024. Trump described him as a curious and enthusiastic learner, noting his involvement in activities ranging from football and parkour to jujitsu, guitar, and piano. “Your curiosity knows no bounds,” she wrote. “Every day, you amaze us with your relentless pursuit of learning, exploring, and mastering new skills.”
Trump also clarified on the podcast that she has never employed a live-in nanny, emphasizing her hands-on approach to parenting. She credited her children with keeping her grounded, saying she “chas[es] them around the house” every evening.
The family has attended numerous public events over the years, including President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration. Despite their high-profile lives, Ivanka and Jared have prioritized creating a stable and nurturing environment for their children.
