Jack White Threatens Legal Action Against Trump Campaign for Unauthorized Use of Music
Jack White, the lead singer of the band The White Stripes, has expressed his displeasure after a campaign aide for Donald Trump utilized a clip of the band’s popular song ‘Seven Nation Army‘ in a social media post.
The incident involved a brief 10-second video shared by Margo Martin, who serves as the deputy director of communications for the Trump campaign. The video featured Trump boarding a plane for campaign events, with the band’s music playing in the background.
White did not hold back in his criticism, denouncing the Trump campaign as ‘fascists’ and indicating that he would pursue legal action. He stated on Instagram, ‘Don’t even think about using my music you fascists. Lawsuit coming from my lawyers about this (to add to your five thousand others.) Have a great day at work today Margo Martin.’
This incident follows similar complaints from other artists regarding the use of their music by Trump’s campaign. Earlier this week, the Swedish pop group ABBA issued a request to stop the use of their songs and footage at campaign rallies.
Numerous other prominent musicians, including Céline Dion and the estate of the late Irish pop star Sinéad O’Connor, have also voiced their objections to Trump and his staff using their work without permission.
