HONG KONG — Jackie Chan, the legendary martial arts actor, has proven his versatility by excelling in animated films, a surprising shift from his traditional action-packed roles. Known for his stunts in over 150 movies, Chan has recently made a significant impact in animation, voicing characters in films like ‘Kung Fu Panda 2‘ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.’

Chan’s transition into animation began with ‘Kung Fu Panda 2,’ where he voiced Monkey, a member of the Furious Five. The film, released in 2011, became his highest-grossing movie, earning $665 million worldwide. His role in ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ (2023) as Splinter also garnered critical acclaim, with the film achieving a 95% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In a 2023 interview with Screen Rant, director Jeff Rowe revealed that Chan’s influence was felt even before his casting. ‘We spent hours looking at Police Story and Rumble in the Bronx, studying what makes a Jackie Chan fight sequence work,’ Rowe said. This attention to detail helped shape the visual and comedic elements of ‘Mutant Mayhem.’

His roles in these films showcase his comedic timing and dramatic range, proving that he is more than just a stunt performer. ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ and ‘Mutant Mayhem’ stand out as some of his most successful projects, with both films receiving high praise from critics and audiences alike.

Despite his iconic status in martial arts cinema, Chan’s foray into animation has opened new doors for his career. His ability to bring humor and depth to animated characters has solidified his place as a versatile and enduring figure in the entertainment industry.
