Jaime King Taylor Swift Friendship News

Los Angeles, CA — Jaime King is reportedly no longer part of Taylor Swift‘s inner circle, despite Swift’s role as the godmother to King’s youngest son, Leo. A source close to King revealed on Friday that the two are not in regular contact anymore. However, Swift continues to express her affection for the 9-year-old by sending gifts on special occasions and is said to be ready to support him if needed.

“There is still love between them, but their relationship has changed significantly since King asked Swift to be Leo’s godmother,” the insider stated. “Taylor has always taken her role very seriously and is the most caring person Jaime could’ve asked for.”

Nearly a decade ago, the friendship began when the two became close at a Golden Globes party in 2014. Just a year later, King, 45, asked the 35-year-old pop star to be Leo’s godmother. Their bond was further strengthened as King’s ex-husband, Kyle Newman, directed Swift’s 2015 music video for her hit song “Style.”

The estranged relationship between King and Swift has surfaced during a challenging period for King, who filed for divorce from Newman in 2020 after over 13 years of marriage. Reports emerged soon after that Newman, 49, claimed King had struggled with substance abuse, alleging that she had used opiates before their children were born, leading to complications around Leo’s birth.

This tumultuous backdrop has led to a custody arrangement where Newman has been granted sole physical custody of the couple’s two sons, 11-year-old James and Leo. A recent court ruling established that while King has legal custody, she will only be allowed supervised visits three times a week, reflecting concerns surrounding her past behavior. According to court documents obtained by People, she failed to complete a mandated six-month drug and alcohol program, required individual counseling, and joint counseling with her children.

“Kyle is navigating a serious situation affecting the safety and well-being of his children,” said Garry M. Gekht, Newman’s attorney, requesting privacy for the family during this difficult time.

Despite the turmoil, King’s struggles continue as she has reportedly moved out of her upscale rental property in Hollywood Hills, where she had been paying $10,000 a month since April. She opted for a more affordable living situation earlier this month, as revealed by sources familiar with her situation. “She has been dealing with financial difficulties for years after some unsuccessful film projects, and the ongoing custody battle has drained her finances even further,” a source shared.

Insiders noted that King is grappling with personal challenges, exacerbated by her ongoing family issues, career stagnation, and financial strain. “She is taking it very hard to say the least. Her past struggles have been intensified by recent events,” the insider added.

King’s representative did not respond to requests for comment from Page Six on this matter. As she adjusts to her new circumstances, King continues to face the ongoing repercussions of her public and private struggles.
