Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz’s ‘Back in Action’ Tops Netflix Charts
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz‘s new spy thriller, “Back in Action,” debuted at No. 1 on Netflix‘s Top 10 list with 46.8 million views in its premiere weekend, marking the highest viewership for an English-language movie on the platform since March 2022.
The film, which premiered on Jan. 17, quickly became a global sensation, reaching No. 1 in 85 countries and landing in the Top 10 in 93 countries. This achievement makes it the most-watched English-language movie on Netflix since 2023.
Fans’ enthusiasm for Diaz’s return to action films also revived interest in her 2010 movie “Knight and Day,” which climbed to No. 4 on the English Film list with 5.2 million views. Meanwhile, the airport thriller starring Taron Egerton, Sofia Carson, and Jason Bateman secured the No. 3 spot with 160.1 million views.
Other notable performances included France’s action flick, which retained its No. 1 spot for a second week with 25.5 million views, and the limited series dramatizing the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre, which jumped to No. 1 with 14.3 million views in its second week.
Romance fans were equally engaged, with the second season of a popular series debuting at No. 2 on the English TV list with 14.2 million views. Season 1 of the same series reached No. 6 with 3.1 million views. Additionally, a hit anime series debuted at No. 2 on the non-English TV chart with 8.6 million views, while a Swedish limited series broke through at No. 3 with 6.9 million views.
Rounding out the week’s highlights, Italy’s comedy film delivered big laughs at No. 2 in non-English Film with 2.4 million views, and a Norwegian drama landed at No. 3 with 2.2 million views.
