LONDON, England — The Jamie Lloyd Company has marked an exceptional year in theatre, culminating in a sold-out run of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The production shattered box office records, achieving five of the highest-grossing weeks for a play in West End history, with the final week setting a new benchmark.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd and featuring acclaimed actors Hayley Atwell and Tom Hiddleston, the production concluded its run on April 10, 2025, after attracting a total of over 600,000 viewers across London and New York throughout the past year. This series of productions included The Effect, Sunset Boulevard, Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, and Much Ado About Nothing.

The Jamie Lloyd Company emphasized accessibility in their productions, with more than a third of tickets sold for £45 or less. Initiatives such as £25 tickets were exclusively available to patrons under 30 years of age, key workers, and those on government benefits. During the company’s prior production of Romeo and Juliet, a significant 5,000 seats were dedicated to this program, while 25,000 seats were allocated for their Shakespeare season at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

Recent reports revealed that an impressive 78% of ticket purchasers for the Shakespeare season were first-time bookers through LW Theatres, indicating a successful outreach to new audiences.

Continuing its momentum, the company is set to open an eagerly anticipated revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice‘s Evita at the London Palladium. Performances are scheduled to begin on June 14, 2025, and will feature Rachel Zegler, known for her recent role in West Side Story, as Eva Perón. Spanish-American actor Diego Andreas Rodriguez will make his West End debut in the role of Che, with rehearsals commencing on April 28.

The Evita revival promises to bring a fresh perspective, reimagined by director Jamie Lloyd, who previously directed the show at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2019. “Diego is an incredible young actor and a fantastic vocalist,” stated Lloyd, expressing his enthusiasm for Rodriguez’s West End debut.

With Evita featuring iconic songs such as “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” this production is expected to attract both returning fans of the original and new audiences eager to experience the riveting story of Argentina’s first lady.

As the Jamie Lloyd Company continues to make waves in the theatre scene, its commitment to innovative storytelling and accessibility remains a focal point. Following its London run, Evita is anticipated to transfer to Broadway, further extending the impact of this celebrated company.
