Janelle Tran Dazzles on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Soul Train Night
During the recent episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” Janelle Tran captivated both the audience and judges with her remarkable performance on Soul Train Night. The segment, aired on ABC and Disney+, featured Tran executing a Viennese Waltz to “Fallin’” by Alicia Keys alongside her professional dance partner, Sasha Farber.
Tran, who is competitively trained as a pianist, shared her musical journey before the performance. “Learning piano was such a big part of my life, so to be able to dance to such a beautiful piece is going to touch a special place in my heart,” she remarked.
The judges were notably impressed with Tran’s execution. Judge Bruno Tonioli described her as “a vixen,” proclaiming their routine as “one of the sexiest” he has ever witnessed. Carrie Ann Inaba echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the chemistry between Tran and Farber. “That was sexy, I mean really,” she said. “You were outstanding.”
Guest judge Rosie Perez, known for her history as a “Soul Train” dancer, appreciated the performance, calling it “hot, fly and all that.” Meanwhile, judge Derek Hough praised Tran for improving her dance frame based on his previous feedback, declaring it his “favorite part of the dance.”
Tran and Farber achieved a score of 31 out of 40, marking a significant milestone with the reception of Tran’s first eights of the season. The scores included eights from Inaba, Perez, and Tonioli, with a seven from Hough. This outcome positioned the pair in third place on the leaderboard for the evening. “I’m speechless. Absolutely speechless,” Tran commented on their achievement.
“Dancing with the Stars” announced that viewer votes from both Soul Train Night and a subsequent episode would be combined with judges’ scores to assess which contestants might face elimination. The show encourages fans across the U.S. and Canada to engage via online and SMS voting during the live broadcasts.
