Janet Jackson Honors Michael Jackson with Emotional Performances of ‘Scream’
Janet Jackson recently opened up about the emotional experience of performing her iconic song “Scream which she released alongside her late brother, Michael Jackson, back in 1995. The song, featured on Michael’s album HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, was a direct response to the intense media scrutiny he faced over child sexual abuse allegations in 1993.
In an interview, Janet shared how she still feels a wave of emotion every time she performs the song live. She recalled, “Mike and I wrote that song in New York, in his apartment. So I relive that whole journey, listening to him sing it and remembering what he was going through at that time.”
During her current tour, which is making its way to the UK this September, Janet incorporates footage of Michael into her performance, creating a powerful duet that resonates with fans. She spoke about her role in supporting her brother throughout his struggles, stating, “I’ve always been his little sister, always by his side, being that support system.”
The European leg of Janet’s tour is set to kick off in Paris on September 25th, with stops planned in Birmingham, London, and Glasgow, wrapping up on October 1st. In a video message announcing the tour, she expressed her excitement to reconnect with fans, saying, “I cannot wait to see you guys, I miss you so much.”
Michael Jackson, who passed away in 2009 from cardiac arrest, left a complicated legacy behind. Recent court documents revealed that he was facing significant financial challenges at the time of his death, as he prepared for his “This Is It” concert tour. Despite his financial struggles, he maintained a lavish lifestyle, spending on jewelry, cars, art, and more.
