Janet Jackson to Receive Icon Award at 2025 American Music Awards

Las Vegas, Nevada – Janet Jackson will receive the prestigious Icon Award at the 2025 American Music Awards, CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced today. The award honors artists whose music has profoundly influenced the industry.
This year’s ceremony will take place on Memorial Day, May 26, airing live from the Fontainebleau Hotel at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT. Award-winning actress Jennifer Lopez will host the event.
Janet, known for her wide-ranging influence in music, will also perform live during the show. This marks her first television performance since 2018. She has won 11 American Music Awards throughout her career and celebrates 50 years in the industry.
Recently, her classic song “Someone to Call My Lover” surged back to the Billboard charts, achieving a 1,400% increase in streams. Originally released in 2001, the track reached No. 3 on the R&B Digital Songs chart.
Jackson expressed her excitement about the upcoming performance. “To celebrate this award in front of my fans is incredible,” she said.
In addition to the Icon Award, the night promises memorable performances, including Lopez taking the stage. Tickets for the event are now available through Ticketmaster.
As a global icon, Jackson has sold over 180 million records worldwide and is known for hits spanning decades. She recently launched her Las Vegas residency, which has captivated audiences and showcases her extensive catalog.
Voting for the 2025 American Music Awards is currently open, with fan participation key to selecting the winners across various categories. Voting will close on May 15 at 11:59 PM PT, except for two categories that remain open until the broadcast starts.
This year’s ceremony will also honor U.S. troops and veterans, further enhancing the show’s emotional impact.
